Our place
The Farm is a 1000 acre working dairy farm, nestled between the Russell state forest and the Whangaruru harbour in Beautiful Northland, at very top of the North Island of New Zealand. With a mixture of mature forest, bush, rolling grassy hills and beautiful beaches just 15 minutes away, we are truly spoilt for places to ride.

We often have over 40 horses on the property at any given time, engaged in a range of activities, from trekking and children's lessons, to higher schooling and showjumping. We breed and train a lot of our own horses and also have a busy horse trekking business. Alongside our horse operations we also have 250 milking cows, calves, pigs, chickens, dogs, cats and other pets. We run school camps and a backpackers/campground in the summer and offer a range of activities including horse treks, motorbiking, kayaking and more. Guests and volunteers come and stay from all over the world and add to the fun and vibrant atmosphere.
When our horses aren't at work, they spend most of their time roaming the hills. We like to keep them when possible, in big paddocks in a herd environment. It is very important for them to be able to socialise and spend time just being horses.
Backbacker Businesss at '“The Farm”
Our Backpackers Business and the staff that run it have become a very important part of our lives over the years, and our family would not be the same without them. So many of them have been an integral part of our horse operation as well. Sharing ideas and skills and opening up contacts for us worldwide. Thank you all so much.
Our location right next to the beautiful Bay of Islands is uniquely stunning and we are truly blessed to live here.
