Teaching Riding - First Steps
This is about a collection of videos that is valuable for people that are
● teaching others to ride
● wanting to teach themselves to ride
● interested in how connection can translate to ridden work in a simple way
Many accomplished riders have participated in this structure and found that the fundamental ideas can be applied to their current riding, to create a more willing horse, and a more empathetic rider.

This is a good example of all of the work I do with a horse in the first session.
How to bridle a horse
In this video I explain how I bridle my horses and get them ready to work with the kids I teach. After I bridled my pony Zippie she and her mates had a funny little surprise for me.

Working with a herd bound horse
Here's little video with a big difference from start to finish. The time spent with this mare and her owner was about two hours altogether, but once I started free work with her it was only 54 seconds before a connection was beginning to be made. Horses like this are so hungry for connection with their humans.
Bridleless & Bareback
This video captures the benefits of riding bareback and without a bridle for both horse and rider. My friend, Ben Carter, shot these beautiful scenes on The Farm, and really captures the carefree joy and natural feel in this style of riding
Explaining Freework basics
Asking a horse to "come with you" is hard to explain because it can be so subtle. I think every horse can do it, but it takes timing on your part and feel for the moment. The best way to understand this whole idea of having a horse come with you, is to watch as many horses as possible. Watch for them thinking, and trying to understand, what people want.
